Which iPod is better, 30GB or 80GB?

I am having difficulty deciding on which iPod to purchase. The 30GB holds 7,500 songs and the 80GB holds 20,000 songs. Which is better in your opinion? I%26#39;ve just recently been shopping now for one. I can see the cons against the 80GB, I mean who really has time to listen to 20,000 songs. Yet it%26#39;s slightly bulkier.

Any help would be great, thanks a lot! Just wanting your opinion.

Am I willing to spend $350 for an iPod, possibly if I get my moneys worth, which I probably will, I just don%26#39;t know which one to buy.

unless u have a lot more than 7,500 songs id go with the 30. i have one and i have like 5,500 songs and a bunch of music videos and tv shows and it works great. plus u save some money going with the 30 and thinness shouldnt be a problem saying that i have the moto razr and the 30 gig ipod is thinner than that. They are the same only one has a larger hard drive than the other. The general rule is to get the biggest hard drive that you can afford. If you plan on watching movies on it, I%26#39;d go 80gb. Before you poo-poo the idea, the picture is really amazing for a such a small screen. Movie files are large, so if you were wanting to put 5-10 movies on it to watch while on a trip or something you might be glad you had that extra space.

With regards to capacity, I always go back to a 1980ish quote from Bill Gates, "nobody will ever need more than 64K bytes of memory".

Danelectro makes some decent stuff, although the plastic bodies they put the electronics in is much to be desired. You have to be carefull with them. DOD is much better about that, much more durable. Haven%26#39;t had any experience with MXR. So at this point I am going to say DOD.

It would depend on what you wanted to do with it and how much music you have or plan to have. iPod shuffles are the cheapest at $79, but can only hold about 240 songs. Also, there is no display and no way to go to a specific song. It does as the name implies, it shuffles the music.

The smallest Nano, 2GB, is $149 and holds about 500 songs. The largest is 8 GB, at $249 and holds 2000 songs. Nanos hold pictures, you can play games on them and they%26#39;re lighter and easier to use for exercise. However, they do not support video and don%26#39;t hold nearly as much music as a Video can hold. Also, if the decision came down to an 8 GB Nano, Video would probably be a better choice, as it costs the same but has more space.

The iPod Video, to me, is the best choice. Although I don%26#39;t have it full (I have a 30GB), I like having space to expand my music collection. ipod video.. i have one and its great... its the only one you can watch movies on and the screen is so much bigger... although it is a little expensive i love and would recommend it over the nano and suffle.. my husband has a nano I would just get an iPod video...I have a nano and I spend more time making room for my new songs than actually getting them. I have used many Mp3 players and I must say that Creative is very reliable. I am most fascinated by its superb specifications. I must also highlight the superb battery life which is one the important factors when I am considering to buy a player. I dont like neither of those models I am with the ipod but I see that you are not interested on the ipod so go with the Zen. Neither. Sort your prioritys if you are set on getting one of these. If you are really indecisive I can offer a cheaper alternative. Buy a used Pocket PC from ebay. I bought One with Windows M. 5.0, and Windows Media Player. It holds a few gigabytes of songs (depending on the size on SD card /Microdrive) (microcenter has the cheapest cards, a Gig for 9 bucks, while Wal-Mart charges 50 bucks for a Gig), can play WMV video, record voice, and edit microsoft office documents. For thirty bucks extra, you can get a DVD to WMV converter, and watch movies. It rocks. I personally prefer the iPaq 2110, that I bought for $100. Plus, all the extra features you get makes it worth getting this. Top that with a High Capacity 8hour battery, for 9 bucks, and you got yourself, one heck of a toy!

I would say that the quality of sound comes more from the headphones you use rather than the player. Of course the play is important, but its always the gear that makes the sound quality great.

i have a 30g video and i LOVE it. had it for a while and ive never had a problem. it is hefty and stable.

it all really depends on how much music you want versus how many videos/photographs youd like.

if you have entire albums/discographies- you may want to go with the 30g. it holds around 7000 songs plus movie/video/photos

if you are a casual music listener and use it for school, gym, commute etc. you may want the nano. it is smaller and more lightweight. you can change your music/playlist easily. The videos are way better.Nano%26#39;s break too easily and they freeze a lot. Ipod Video 30g OFCOURSE It comes down to what you want to use it for. If you want to store your entire music collection and/or videos etc, then the Ipod Video is the way to go.

However, if you just want something to listen to whilst at the gym, on the way to work, or just casually - then the Nano is great - small, durable and very portable!

The only difference is Zune has a feature which you can share music with other Zune owner wirelessly. However, the song you share will only be there for 3 days or 3 plays, whichever comes first. Ipod is by far the WORST selection you can make. Especially if all you care about is the music and not a bunch of stupid accessories that do absolutely nothing but change the appearance of your player.

In addition to being unreliable (just do a search on "HELP my Ipod is broke" they are more expensive and the sound quality is poor at best compared to some of the better players out there.

But the biggest reason to stay away from the Ipod is Itunes itself. With the Ipod you are limited to Itunes ALONE to get your music other than ripping your own CD%26#39;s or stealing it from Limewire, etc. With other players you have multiple choices on where to get legal music.

The Creative Vision M 30gb is a great player for the money. It has outstanding battery life, a big color screen, Video,FM player, photo%26#39;s and is very simple to use. The FM tuner on it sounds just as good as the radio. I know you don%26#39;t care about that stuff, but if you can get it for the same price as an Ipod why not?

Plus, because it%26#39;s a "plays for sure" device it can be used at ALL the major music stores and it%26#39;s only $200. Here%26#39;s a link to some reviews.

Or, if this is a little much, try the Creative Zen V 1, 2 or 4GB. Sansa is good as well, but just about ANYTHING is better than an Ipod.

The iPod is worst of the major MP3 players on the market, completely and totally over-rated and over-priced. Most of the features that come standard on the other players the vaunted iPod needs a peripheral addon to have. These are things such as a radio, voice recorder, and an alarm clock. Then there%26#39;s the truth about their so called dependability. There is a known flaw that has been around since Apple first started to manufacture the blasted things that causes them to lockup needing repair and they have yet to correct this problem. This has been going on for 6 years. Also if you want more proof of how bad their dependability is look around here and you%26#39;ll notice that the problems people have with iPods are way out of proportion when compared to the other major brands. The last major problem I have with the iPod line is their dependability on iTunes. Without it an iPod is just a fancy paperweight. I also don%26#39;t get the whole "cool factor" of the iPod as I think they%26#39;re ugly.

They, unlike what some people seem to think, ARE NOT the first MP3 player on the market. Creative as an example has been making portable MP3 players since 1999 and Apple didn%26#39;t debut the iPod till 2001. That%26#39;s a full 2 years after Creative.

The only reason why iPods are the "most popular" is due solely to Apple%26#39;s Marketing Department. They have managed to convince a bunch of mindless sheep that they have the biggest, bestest (yes this was a deliberate misspelling), and coolest product on the market. Sadly this is not the case and these people are too blind to see the truth of things. Maybe someday they%26#39;ll be able to see through the fog to the light but I seriously doubt it.

To sum it all up, iPods suck. You%26#39;ll be much better off looking at what Creative Labs has to offer in the way of their players. ipods are better because you can hold more songs that an mp3, play games, view pictures, watch videos, and are easier to use. they%26#39;re not as cheap though

the sansa eseries is pretty good but not for videos The company Creative Zen is not as popular as Apple and does not advertise as much. If i was you i would get an iPod! This is my personal experience. I used to have a Creative Zen and it just stopped working on me. It was only 2 weeks old. I contacted the customer service and they didnt really helped much. I called and called but never got an answer. I sent a few emails and didnt get a reply until a month later. They said the problem that made my Creative Zen shut down happens to alot of people. I forgot what the problem was. Then after that i just got rid of it. Then i bought a 30 gig Ipod Video. I had a problem with it too. It wasnt putting the songs that i bought on there. I emailed Ipod customer service one time and they sent me back the next morning.I called right after i sent them a message just incase they didnt get it and they answewred my call on the first time. I did what they told me and now it works perfectly.

Hi. I%26#39;ve have used a few brands of MP3. This is my personal view. Hope this can be of some help to you.

Samsung has very good sound and very easy to use, just plug it into your PC and copy your mp3 files over and you can listen to it. Unfortunately, the biggest storage space Samsung has is only 4GB. I have a huge library of MP3 songs, and for such small storage space, I have to do spring-cleaning very often. That is to delete away to old songs when I need to upload new songs onto the player.

Now, I am now using the 30GB ipod. Ipod requires their own software, itune, to upload the songs onto the player. If you are not a very computer literate person, you may need a while to get use to the software.

Another brand I%26#39;ve used before and like it very much is iRiver. It has the best sound system. But unfortunately, iRiver also requires their own software to upload the songs onto the player. And this software is not so easy to use also.

Actually, it all depends on what you need and what you want. And how well are you able to use their software...

Why does my Zune have only 6 GB with nothing on it...?

I got it 2nd hand and the only thing I used it for was the radio, but I was confused on the memory. I checked it using the setting and storage in the Zune. Is it wrong or something?

the zunes have usually high gigabytes so plug it into your computer and open My computer or computer if you have vista and right click removeable disk e or if it says zune right click, go to format. (you will lose all files) this should then say you have full memory capacity. also right click on removeable disk E or Zune and go to properties. then look around for memory.

Why does the zune software convert some wmv files?

Microsoft stated Zune plays .wmv videos. When i try to transfer wmv files to the zune software, some sync w/out converting. Others (about the same size) are converted by the Zune software, even though its also a wmv file. Example: [http://www.amd.com/us-en/asset...

is converted by the zune software. When you try to transfer files above 10mb, it takes a hell of a lot of time.

The Zune device only accepts wmv or mp4 formats. If a file is in wmv lossless, the software would convert since that codec is not in the firmware.

Hope that helps... Actually, zune can not support the wmv at any bitrate. if the bitrate of the video is too high to import to zune, zune software will convert it in order to import it to zune.

Why does this happen to my 30 GB iPod??

Your best bet is that you can do a reset on the ipod to restore the factory defaults (do this from itunes). Also you might want to consider getting the actual apple cord because that is what its designed for. Lastly if none of that works it is a technological problem and if you are under warranty apple should replace the ipod for free.

You should find some conversion software to convert it to mp3 or m3p or m4p whatever the ipod file is. I noticed none of my wav files can be uploaded, but it sometimes asks me if I want to convert them.

Here is what I would try before looking for software, though. Create a cd with them (assuming you have that software) then rip the CD files and delete the old ones. Make sure they rip to mp3 format, and then put those on your ipod. uhh contact apple i cant help ya it might be a corrupted file did you get it off limewire or anything like that. if you did then dowload it again and see if it works Idonno what formats apple supports, but for example certain mp3 player%26#39;s won%26#39;t play WMA files, although most do. Others don%26#39;t play mp4. The media player on your computer supports a whole lot of formats though, so if you downloaded it there is a chance you got it in AIFF or Ogg Vorbis or some other weird compression type. And since by default windows hides the filename extensions, all you can see is that it is a "music file" but not what kind. You should try getting another copy from somewhere else.

My shuffle was working just fine yesterday and this morning. I tried turning it on during lunch time and nothing happened! Can anyone help?

The exact smae thing happened to me. I was shocked to find that after spending 1 hour going through my 3,000 to put 240 songs on it, that after I plugged it it to charge then took it out, the music was no longer on it. Here is what was wrong with mine.

I have all my music on an external harddrive (EHD). When I was putting music onto my shuffle I would go through my EHD, double click the songs that I wanted on my shuffle, so they would open in iTunes. After all the songs I wanted were on iTunes, I dragged them all onto my shuffle and let it charge. The next mouringing I unplugged it and deleted all the music off of iTunes because it was already on my EHD. I listined to it and it was working perfectly. I plugged it in later that night to let it charge and woke up the next mouring to day it on a day trip to St. Louis. I plugged it into my car and found it didn%26#39;t work.

In short, if you don%26#39;t have the songs still in iTunes when you plug it in to charge, all songs will be erased. It does this becasue of an autofill, this means it will only keep it on your shuffle if it%26#39;s still in your iTunes. It also won%26#39;t keep the songs on theere if it can%26#39;t find the original file you got the song from, like limewire. It%26#39;s hard to explain over the computer but this is the best I can do. Two possibilities: It%26#39;s broken or its not getting power. Does it have a internal rechargeable battery? if so plug in the charger and let it sit for a few hours. Otherwise change the battery. Also try a reset, if your unit supports that. Find a reset hole or button, sometimes you will need to use a pin or paperclip - check the documentation. do you have a zen?

To reset your zen = Put a pen head in the hole under the power button for 20 seconds.

A depleted battery may have any of the following symptoms:

The charging icon is missing

The blue power LED is not blinking

The player turns off immediately when it is disconnected from its power supply

Not showing any signs of activity (with the exception of the blue power LED)

No LCD display

The player is not deteced by Windows or any programs

Why included earphones like that?

The included earphones for the MP3 player I bought is somewhat kinda queer. I say queer becoz one earphone cable is longer while the other is so short at the joint. Im just wondering why they are like that? Any opinion? Some suggestion how best to use them?

simple connect the ipod and then in itunes go to ipod and then untick manually manage music(in version 7) (for version 6 or less go to edit %26gt;preferences%26gt;ipod and then do the same) that happens to me sometimes also. what i do is if my itunes is up, close out of it and then unplug your USB cord then plug it back in but DON%26#39;T open itunes. let it open by itself. then it should work. There is an option in one of the menu%26#39;s that allows you to either manually update your ipod manually or automatically, click on the latter.. I got a free iPod Video from this site. All I had to do was sign up and complete a few simple online tasks, and that was it! Highly recommended.

The iPod mini was one of the first iPods, and I believe the only iPod that wasn%26#39;t updated. The update was pretty much the Nano, so they didn%26#39;t make a new mini. Since less minis are made than any others, they don%26#39;t make many accessories. The mini is what they call a "throw back" it peaked fourth quarter in 2005. When the next gen ipods came out, they became less desirable and the number of minis sold decreased. Therefore the number of accesories also decreased. This was back in 2006 too so .. your lucky if you find anything for the mini. Here is a good site that should work out in your case for well cases.

Why is my guitar amp making cracking and popping sounds?

i own a fender roc pro 700, when i hav it through the distortion channel it crack and popps as if there was a whip going off in the back ground or as if i was popping bubble wrap, now the distortion is never turned up past 3 and it goes up to 10 so i know i havnt got it too loud, what is wrong with it

Two things to check, always check when you hear popping or crackling.

First, bad ground. Either in the instrument, the cable, the pedal or the amp. It isn%26#39;t unheard of to find more than one bad ground. A bad ground could be either a clean break, intermittant break, usually emphasised by movement of the effected piece.

The other possiblities are a bad pickup or distortion back through the amp. Your description of the problem makes feedback the least likely.

Go through the elemination process first. Replace one piece of gear in the chain at a time until something changes then zero in on the problem.

The problem could be in the effect itself, you mentioned the distortion channel. Make sure the ground of the electrical outlet that your gear is plugged into is good. Change outlets, making sure that you are not on the same circuit as the first outlet.

You need to check your speaker wiring as well. It could be you have wires touching somewhere causing a short. I had that same thing happen to me and I found they were touching where I had spliced some wire.

Once I separated the 2 wires the problem went away.

If not, Go to Radio Shack and buy a can of Tuner Spray. Pull the knob off and spray the spray on the base of the post and turn the post back and forth to work it in. Do this several times and when the spray has dried, try it and see if it helps. Make sure the hi-fi is off when you use the spray... Don%26#39;t want any shorts or shocks!

. first of all, does the device use flash memory? (i%26#39;ll asume it does) the best thing to do would be to format the ipod. then once all the files on it are gone, check to see how much space it says is left. it may just take a software update to the devices firmware, or the proper software to connect the device to your computer to fix the problem- (as in the music store it works with or whatever tool you use to transfer files to it. ex- itunes to ipod.

Ok i was coming home from the shore yesterday and i was listening to my ipod. it worked fine. This morning i went to go for a bick ride and it said"OK to Disconnect" I dont know what that means. I tryed turning the ipod off, on, and trying to lock it but it just stays on that screen. I didnt hook it up to the computer intull like 3 min ago and it said that my ipod was not reconized. no the music file has nothing to do with it. it can be for mp3s and on an iPod at the same time. The reason is because iPod and MP3%26#39;s are 2 different things and companies. The iPod is a product of the MP3 just incorporated and more expensive. So pretty much jst get stuff on windows media player. It%26#39;s like the xbox 360 and ps3!

Why isnt my iTunes saving anything I download?

I just got a new MacBook and was downloading all my podcasts and also decided to try my first movie purchase through iTunes. It downloads the full podcast, and it looks like it is complete (doesn%26#39;t give any errors). But then it isn%26#39;t saved anywhere and begins downloading again. Also, I purchased a movie and then left the computer on for the night to download. Why wont this music show up on media player?

I recently downloaded linkin park reanimation CD with all the songs being an mp3 file. When I added it to my music it didn%26#39;t show up in media player 11 like the rest of my music. Why is this?

It may not have been tagged properly from where you obtained it. Look through all the artists in your library if you find one that%26#39;s listed as %26#39;Unknown" check in there for the songs or album. If found there you can use WMP%26#39;s "Advanced Tag Editor" to fix it. Most likely you didn%26#39;t have Media Player 11 setup to autoload the information (do an auto-search of the hard-drive for new media) or the cd did not autoload its "playlist" into Media 11 for you.

Either way it should be fixable, simply by going to your Media Player 11 and having it update the drives media content, or "find and play" the cd content now ON the hard-drive.

go to your control panel and default progams.

set it to ALL defaults it will add, or options in the main media player window and set it to select all audio files it will do it automatically.

What you can do is enable disk mode on your iPod (you would have to do it on the computer that you regularly use the iPod with) and then transfer over the songs you want.

I have a computer from my school, and every year before school starts we%26#39;re supposed to erase our hard drives with a disc they provide. Okay, just first go to your mom%26#39;s friend and tell her what happened. Tell her to plug it into her own music library and then all her songs will load again. Then, download some new songs for her in HER library. You can do it on your computer but you%26#39;ll have to get all her songs into your music library somehow and some new ones, too. If you plug an iPod with songs on into a different computer, it will blank the iPod and put the songs off the new computer on to it =[ Thats what happens it probably erased all the songs because itunes is set to your ipod. you have to change the setting on itunes (when you put in the ipod) to manually change so it won%26#39;t automatically erase what doesn%26#39;t match your library. OR if you pressed the restore button after plugging in her device that also erases all the content on the ipod. it probably won%26#39;t do the same thing to your ipod because it recognizes it. Well you can%26#39;t get the songs back, they are gone. Don%26#39;t panic if the person has the songs on their ipod they should be able to get them back easily. to keep this from happening you have yo goto the Ipod settings and uncheck the box that says "automaticly update songs on ipod" this will make it so you have to manually update the songs. do wat they said If you sync an iPod to a different iTunes then you lose all the songs and can%26#39;t get them back.

When you make an account on iTunes, then download some music, that music can only be played by 5 computers (that have iTunes and have been registered with your account) , and 1 iPod. The iPod that was stolen from you is the only one that can play the music that you downloaded from your account.

You can only reset the computers connected. If you want to deactivate the iPod stolen, you will have to connect it to your computer and deactivate it (which is now impossible because it is stolen).

There is one thing i have found as a last resort for changing what computer your ipod runs off of. I%26#39;m planning to get an Ipod video, i really like the white color but I%26#39;m afraid that in time, it would change to a yellowish color ? Will this happen ? TQ.

I have had mine for 2 years and it is still white and shiny. I bought a clear case that goes over it. Maybe that is why it is not yellow.

~Candice~ I have never heard of such a thing! i should think not. mine%26#39;s white as ever and it%26#39;s 2 years old. no it wont i m having for 4 yrs n nothing happened just make sure that u dont peel the protective layer or u r screen will get scratched my ipod nano is about 1 year, not so long, ha... but it has never turned to yellow ever since...

Winamp radio..or somethin...?

Well a couple of years ago I was talkin to some people online and they directed me to this link which made it stream on my winamp. I could hear any song they were playing on their winamp and they were also to speak on their mics and I was able to hear them. I no longer talk to those people and were wondering if anyone knows how I can do that stream type thing? ...Thanks

Simple Winamp plug-in known as SHOUTcast which pretty much lets your computer act as a radio station and allow you to stream it through your computer%26#39;s IP address.

It%26#39;s very easy so long as you know how to read the manual.

Windows media burning cd?

Hey. I%26#39;ve been trying to burn a music cd on my windows xp computer. I%26#39;ve been reading that I should be able to burn music on Windows media player, but I get a message that says %26#39;connect the burner and restart the player.%26#39; I was getting the impression that WMP automatically came with a burner. Does this mean that I have to go out and buy/download a burner?
